1. Morning: Grand Palace and The Emerald Buddha Temple - Wat Pho

My one day in Bangkok kicked off with a visit to the Royal Palace, a must-see spot. It was built in 1782 and holds a special place in both Bangkok and all of Thailand. Each architectural work here is impressive because it is not simply a building, temple, or stupa, but also a place that provides a perspective on the culture and long history of Thailand. Standing in front of the royal palaces left me amazed.

If you get through the gate to the Royal Palace, don't miss out on The Emerald Buddha Temple. It's Thailand's most important temple, housing a famous Emerald Buddha. The guide on my Bangkok city tour explained that the Buddha statue wears different costumes at various times of the year for important rituals. Pretty cool.

Important note for your visit to the Grand Palace and The Emerald Buddha Temple: The entrance fee is 500 THB per person, and visiting hours are from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Since it's a sacred place, remember to dress appropriately—cover your legs and shoulders.

After that, I went to Wat Pho, answering the question "what to do in Bangkok in one day?". Wat Pho is the oldest temple in Bangkok and is well-known for its huge reclining Buddha statues, standing at 15 meters tall and 46 meters long. You've probably seen many Buddha statues, but a massive reclining one? Maybe not! So, make sure you don't miss the chance to come here and see it! Also, at Wat Pho, you can enjoy traditional Thai massage treatments to relax. Remember, Wat Pho temple is open from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, and the entrance fee is 200 THB per person. Even if in Bangkok for a short time, make sure to include Wat Pho in your plans.

During my Bangkok one day tour, I had lunch with my tour guide at RONGROS, a well-known Michelin restaurant Bangkok. This place not only offers a lovely view but also keeps the authentic flavors of traditional Thai cuisine. Luckily, I got a table by the window, giving me a clear view of the Chao Phraya River and the stunning Wat Arun temple. This got me even more excited because these two places are the next stops on my trip.

2. Afternoon: Chao Phraya River - Wat Arun

Riding a long-tail boat along the Chao Phraya River was a big part of my Bangkok one day tour. Before the trip, I wondered how amazing the city would look from the river. From a distance, Bangkok resembles a beautiful picture, earning its comparison to the Venice of the East.

Despite Bangkok having numerous stunning temples, I only managed to visit three in one day. The third temple, Wat Arun, stood out the most. Also called the temple of Dawn, it was built in the early 19th century in the ancient Khmer style. This temple is 82 meters tall and has towering minarets visible from afar.

During my visit, I learned more about Buddhism and challenged myself by climbing a very steep staircase to the top of Wat Arun's stupa. It can be a bit scary for those afraid of heights, but if you want to see Bangkok from above, give it a try. Thanks to this experience, I captured beautiful sunset photos in Bangkok! Wat Arun is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, with an entrance fee of 100 THB per person.

3. Evening: Bangkok’s Chinatown - finish Bangkok one day tour

The last stop on my Bangkok city tour was Yaowarat Road, also known as Bangkok's Chinatown. I took a stroll and found out that Yaowarat road is like a food paradise in Bangkok. Just a 30-minute walk along this street and you won't be hungry anymore! As soon as you step onto this road, you'll come across lots of eateries, restaurants, stalls and there is nothing else to do but indulge in street food.

Some tasty options to try are Pad Thai, Tomyum, and flavorful fresh seafood. If you take photos in Bangkok's Chinatown at night, you might even trick people into thinking you're in China instead of Thailand.
