Depart Hanoi in the morning and travel southwest to Mai Chau Valley, a scenic mountain region of rice fields, limestone peaks and ethnic villages. Before descending into the valley, stop at a viewpoint to take in panoramic views of the countryside, then continue to Mai Chau for lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, explore the rural side of Mai Chau with your guide. Cycle through Pom Coong and Ban Lac villages, following quiet lanes between rice fields and wooden stilt houses while gaining an introduction to the daily life and culture of the White Thai community. Along the way, see locally made textiles and learn about traditional weaving, a craft that remains closely connected to village life.
Depending on weather and trail conditions, the cycling experience may be replaced by a guided walk through the villages.
If local activity and timing allow, make a short stop around the Mai Chau market area before transferring to Mai Chau Ecolodge for check-in.
The guided program ends after check-in. Spend the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure, with time to relax and enjoy the valley setting before dinner.
Activity level: Relaxed to moderately active. Basic confidence riding a bicycle is recommended. Comfortable footwear and lightweight outdoor clothing are advisable.
Overnight in Mai Chau
After breakfast, leave Mai Chau and travel to Ba Khan Lake, a scenic reservoir dotted with small islands and framed by forested hills and dramatic karst formations. Often described as a “Mini Ha Long Bay,” Ba Khan offers a much quieter atmosphere and sees far fewer visitors than many of Vietnam’s better-known scenic destinations.
Board a local boat for a Ba Khan boat trip, cruising across the calm water while enjoying views of the surrounding mountains, islands and rural landscape.
Continue toward Pu Luong Nature Reserve for your visit to Kho Muong Cave. From the village area, follow rural paths through the mountain terrain to reach the cave. Explore its natural rock formations with your guide before walking back from the cave.
After the Kho Muong Cave visit, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Continue to your accommodation in Pu Luong and check in. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure, allowing time to unwind and enjoy the mountain setting before dinner.
Activity level: Moderate. The approach to Kho Muong Cave includes uneven paths and slopes. Walking shoes with good grip are recommended, especially during or after wet weather when parts of the trail may become muddy or slippery.
Overnight in Pu Luong
After breakfast, transfer to the starting point of your Pu Luong village trek. Set out with your guide on an approximately 2–3-hour walk through Lan Trong and Lan Ngoai villages, following rural paths between terraced rice fields and mountain landscapes.
During the trek, experience the quieter side of Pu Luong village life and learn about the local community from your guide. You will also have the opportunity to see traditional weaving practices that continue to form part of everyday culture in the area.
After completing the trek, continue to visit the traditional bamboo water wheels of Pu Luong. Made from locally available materials, these ingenious structures have long been used to lift and channel water toward nearby rice fields. The visit provides an interesting insight into traditional farming methods and how local communities have adapted agriculture to the mountainous environment.
After visiting the bamboo water wheels, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, begin the journey back to Hanoi, where your 3-day tour concludes upon arrival.
Activity level: Generally easy, with occasional moderate activity. Practical walking shoes, light clothing, and sun protection are recommended for the journey. Trail conditions may vary depending on the weather, particularly during the rainy season.

- A 30% deposit is needed to guarantee your booking.
- The remaining balance is due at least 10 days before departure.
- Once your booking is confirmed, the deposit becomes non-refundable as hotels, guides and local services may be reserved in advance.

- In the event of cancellations, the following conditions will apply:
- More than 10 days before departure: 30% of total tour price
- 6–10 days before departure: 50% of the total tour price
- 3–5 days before departure: 75% of total tour price
- Within 3 days before departure or no-show: 100% of total tour price
- Cancellation deadlines are calculated based on working days in Vietnam, excluding weekends and public holidays. Please contact our team if your cancellation request falls close to a deadline.
Refunds
- Any applicable refunds will be processed after deducting relevant fees and banking charges.
- The time it takes to receive your refund may vary based on your payment provider.
- Hotel rooms are typically available from 14:00 and should be vacated by 12:00
- Early check-in or late check-out is available upon request (subject to availability and surcharge)
