Here's a concise overview of the points of interest in Ha Giang Loop Tour from Hanoi 5 Days:
We commence the day with an ascent up a high pass to reach the "Gate of Heaven" – the first entrance to the Dong Van Geopark, showcasing an exceptional panorama of karst landscapes that collectively form a globally renowned "park".
At the pass, a stairway climb unveils a panoramic view of the Tam Son's Nui Doi (Fairy Bosoms) and its karst rock formations. Subsequently, we trace the Mien River, occasionally ascending in altitude and transitioning from one valley to another. After crossing two small passes, we descend to the Yen Minh hamlet, where we enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Around twenty kilometers from the Dong Van hamlet, we pause in the Sung La village, shared by two ethnic minorities: H'Mong and Lo Lo. We visit a traditional old house made of wood and clay, followed by a walk through the H'Mong village, crossing rose and vegetable fields until we reach the vibrant Lo Lo bariolé hamlet. A remarkable site along our journey, we explore the Palace of H'Mong King Vuong Chi Sinh – a uniquely sized and architecturally distinct palace, constructed from plateau stones, nestled at the base of the Sa Phin Valley.
Not far from the Dong Van hamlet, several stops along the way showcase magnificent karst rocks shaped like sugarloafs.
Overnight stay in Dong Van.
We embark on a scenic mountain road to the Extreme North of Vietnam, encountering landscapes of exceptional beauty: vibrant multicolored valleys, hills, and cliffs. Passing through the Ma Le hamlet, we reach Lung Cu, where we ascend the stairway to Lung Cu Flag Tower for a panoramic view of the area and towards China.
Returning to Dong Van, we enjoy lunch at a typical restaurant. In the afternoon, we rendezvous with a local guide in Pavi and commence our trek along the Ho Chua Mountain's mountainside trail. This journey affords us magnificent views of the canyons and the Nho Que River. After a steep ascent, we arrive at the Ti Cu Si village – a Mong ethnic village consisting of around twenty families. Following a brief visit, we descend via a wider gravel road to the suspended Nia Do village below a cliff and the De Lung village nestled in the valley of the same name. After crossing a few small passes, we reunite with our awaiting vehicle at the entrance of Giang Thai Phin village.
Transfer to the hotel in Meo Vac.
Depart from your hotel in the valley hosting the Meo Vac hamlet, crossing the karst massif until reaching the trail along the upper part of the Nho Que River valley, passing close to 4 White Hmong hamlets. Upon reaching the upper part of the valley, you are at the edge of the karst plateau, offering a view of the opposite side's tapestry of sloped cultivation and noting the relative density of habitation (Hmong, Nung-xuong, Tay, and Lo Lo). While progressing upstream, on clear days, you can spot the mountain ranges that constitute the Chinese border, located two valleys away. Depending on the season, there's an opportunity to discover local craftsmanship related to hemp cultivation and processing. The trek provides a panoramic view of the highest valley in Southeast Asia: a 300-meter-high gorge and a magnificent mountain pass road.
Returning to Ha Giang Town where you will spend the night in a hotel.
Note: This trek can be shortened for accessibility (by eliminating the steepest inclines). In such cases, the walk is limited to 3-4 hours and can be completed as a day trip or half-day trip.
Today, unwind and savor the scenery during our drive back to Hanoi. Should you desire to halt for photo opportunities, just let the driver know, and he'll accommodate your request. En route, we'll pause for lunch at a nearby local restaurant before reaching Hanoi, estimated around 18:00.
