The 5-Day Hue to Hoi An Tour with Lagoon, Villages & Local Experiences starts in Hue and ends at Da Nang International Airport, combining imperial heritage, village life, the Lang Co lagoon area, Hai Van Pass and the countryside around Hoi An. Over five days, the journey balances guided cultural experiences with relaxed free time in both Hue and Hoi An.
Visit the Hue Imperial City, cycle through Thuy Bieu Village, enjoy lunch with a local family and cruise the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda. On the journey from Hue to Hoi An, meet a fishing family near Lang Co, explore the lagoon by boat, see oyster and mussel farming areas and enjoy a seafood lunch by the water. Around Hoi An, cycle to Tra Que Vegetable Village, join hands-on farming and a Vietnamese cooking class, relax at An Bang Beach, and travel through Cam Thanh’s water-coconut waterways by traditional basket boat.
With varied local encounters, manageable cycling, scenic transfers and independent leisure time, this tour is well suited to international travelers seeking a deeper experience of Central Vietnam at a comfortable pace.
After breakfast, meet your guide and begin the day at the Hue Imperial City, once the political and royal centre of the Nguyen Dynasty.
Explore the historic complex while learning about imperial life and the history of Vietnam’s last royal dynasty. Key landmarks include the Flag Tower, Ngo Mon Gate, the Palace of Supreme Harmony and surviving sections of the former Forbidden Purple City.
Continue to Thuy Bieu Village, where you will enjoy a home-hosted lunch with a local family. Afterwards, set out on an approximately one-hour bicycle ride along quiet village lanes, passing traditional houses, gardens and everyday scenes of local life. Along the way, visit a long-established place of worship and have opportunities to interact with local residents.
Later, board a local boat for an approximately 40-minute cruise along the Perfume River, followed by a visit to Thien Mu Pagoda, one of Hue’s best-known religious landmarks.
Return to Hue's hotel in the late afternoon. The evening is free for independent exploration, with dinner at your own arrangement.
Overnight in Hue
Activity Note: The cycling is relatively easy and suitable for guests who are comfortable riding on quiet local roads. Comfortable footwear, lightweight clothing, sunscreen, a hat and light rain protection are recommended.
After breakfast, leave Hue and travel south toward the lagoon area near Lang Co, beginning your journey from Hue to Hoi An.
Here, meet a local fishing family whose livelihood has long been connected with the lagoon. Board a local boat to explore the surrounding waterways while learning about traditional fishing practices and local aquaculture.
Cruise across the lagoon to visit the family’s oyster and mussel farming areas. Stop at a simple stilted structure above the water, where you can observe local fishing techniques and gain a closer insight into daily life on the lagoon.
A seafood lunch is served in a lagoon-side setting, allowing time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings while learning more about the family’s way of life and connection with the water.
After lunch, return to shore and continue south by road across the scenic Hai Van Pass. Photo stops will be made when weather, visibility and road conditions allow.
Arrive in Hoi An during the afternoon and check in at your hotel. The remainder of the day is free at leisure, with dinner at your own arrangement.

After breakfast, begin the day with a countryside ride to Tra Que Vegetable Village, cycling approximately 3 km from Hoi An through peaceful local surroundings.
Meet a local farming family and learn how vegetables and aromatic herbs are traditionally cultivated. Under the guidance of your hosts, take part in selected hands-on farming activities such as preparing the soil, planting or watering, depending on the activities taking place that day.
Return to the family home for a refreshing drink before joining a hands-on Vietnamese cooking class. Learn to prepare several approachable local dishes using fresh ingredients, then sit down with the family to enjoy the lunch you have helped prepare.
In the early afternoon, continue to An Bang Beach for some free time by the sea. Relax on the beach, walk along the sandy shoreline or simply enjoy the coastal atmosphere at your own pace. This part of the day is unguided leisure time, and drinks, beach services and other personal expenses are at your own arrangement.
Later, travel to Cam Thanh Village and board a traditional round basket boat for an approximately one-hour journey through narrow waterways surrounded by water-coconut palms. Along the way, learn about the riverside environment and the local way of life connected with the area.
