The 6-Day Central Vietnam Heritage Tour: Hue, Hoi An, My Son & Ba Na Hills begins in Hue and ends with a private transfer from Hoi An to Da Nang International Airport. This carefully paced journey links Central Vietnam’s imperial, Cham and trading-port heritage, travelling through Hue, Lap An Lagoon, Lang Co, Hai Van Pass, Da Nang and Hoi An.
Explore the Hue Imperial City, Thien Mu Pagoda, traditional craft workshops and Khai Dinh Royal Tomb before travelling south across the Hai Van Pass. In Da Nang, visit the Cham Sculpture Museum and Marble Mountains, then continue to My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An Ancient Town to trace the region’s Champa legacy and multicultural trading history.
The journey concludes with a full-day visit to Ba Na Hills, including the cable car, Golden Bridge, French Village and buffet lunch. With private road transfers, English-speaking guided sightseeing, included lunches and free time in Hue and Hoi An, the tour offers a comfortable balance of heritage, scenery and independent exploration.
After breakfast, meet your English-speaking guide and begin a full-day exploration of Hue’s imperial heritage. Start at the Hue Imperial City, the former political and ceremonial centre of the Nguyen Dynasty, where you will walk through historic gates, courtyards and royal structures while learning about Vietnam’s last imperial dynasty. Continue to Thien Mu Pagoda, one of Hue’s best-known religious landmarks, set in a peaceful location overlooking the Perfume River.
After lunch at a local restaurant, visit a traditional conical-hat and incense-making workshop to observe crafts closely associated with Hue’s cultural identity. In the afternoon, continue to the Khai Dinh Royal Tomb, noted for its elaborate decoration and distinctive combination of Vietnamese and European architectural influences. The site involves a number of steps, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. After the visit, return to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.
Overnight in Hue
After breakfast, leave Hue by private vehicle and travel south toward Da Nang and Hoi An. Stop at Lap An Lagoon to enjoy views across the tranquil water, surrounding mountains and local oyster-farming landscape, then continue through the Lang Co area before crossing the spectacular Hai Van Pass. Scenic stops can be made along the route when weather and road conditions allow.
After descending into Da Nang, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, where your guide will introduce the artistic traditions, religious symbolism and cultural heritage of the ancient Champa civilization. The visit provides useful historical background before your exploration of My Son Sanctuary the following day. Continue to the Marble Mountains to discover limestone hills, caves, religious sites and viewpoints before travelling south to Hoi An for hotel check-in. The Marble Mountains involve steps and uneven surfaces, so comfortable footwear is recommended. The evening is free for independent adventure.
Overnight in Hoi An
After breakfast, travel with your guide to My Son Sanctuary, an important archaeological complex of the ancient Champa civilization, set within a green valley surrounded by forested hills. Walk among the surviving brick temples and towers while learning about Cham history, Hindu religious influences, traditional building techniques and the cultural significance of the site. As much of the visit takes place outdoors, comfortable footwear, sun protection and light rain protection are recommended.
Return to Hoi An around midday for lunch at a local restaurant, then spend the afternoon exploring Hoi An Ancient Town on foot with your guide. Walk through its historic streets and visit selected heritage landmarks such as the Japanese Covered Bridge area, a Chinese assembly hall and a traditional merchant house, while learning how Hoi An developed as an international trading port and how Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese influences shaped its distinctive architecture and culture. After the guided tour, the evening is free for shopping, cafés, riverside walks or dinner at a restaurant of your choice.
Overnight in Hoi An
After breakfast, travel with your guide and driver from Hoi An to Ba Na Hills, a mountain resort in the highlands west of Da Nang. Take the included Ba Na Hills cable car into the mountains and visit the famous Golden Bridge before continuing through the main sightseeing areas of the mountaintop complex, including the European-inspired French Village. Enjoy an included buffet lunch during your visit and continue exploring the mountain surroundings with your guide.
Weather and visibility at Ba Na Hills can change quickly, and temperatures may be noticeably cooler than in Hoi An, so carrying a light jacket or extra layer is recommended. In the afternoon, descend by cable car and return to Hoi An by private vehicle. The evening is free to relax, revisit the Ancient Town or choose your own restaurant for dinner.
Overnight in Hoi An
After breakfast, enjoy free time according to your confirmed departure schedule. At the arranged time, your driver will meet you at the hotel for your private transfer from Hoi An to Da Nang International Airport.
