The adventure starts with a traditional longtail boat ride along the Kok River before reaching a Karen village and setting out on foot through mountain landscapes. Along the way, visit remote hill tribe communities, walk through rice fields, bamboo groves and forest trails, and gain insight into traditional lifestyles that remain closely connected to the surrounding mountains. Highlights include an overnight stay with a Lahu family, trekking to Huay Mae Sai Waterfall, exploring areas associated with the Akha people and spending a night at a peaceful mountain campsite overlooking the Chiang Rai countryside.
Combining authentic cultural encounters, overnight stays in the mountains and rewarding trekking routes, this tour offers a memorable introduction to the landscapes, traditions and communities that define the Chiang Rai highlands.
After breakfast, continue your Chiang Rai hill tribe trekking adventure through mountain rice terraces, cultivated hillsides and quiet forest trails. The route passes through remote highland landscapes where traditional farming remains an important part of everyday life, offering beautiful views across the mountains and valleys of northern Thailand.
The trail gradually leads to Huay Mae Sai Waterfall, one of the natural highlights of the trek. Surrounded by lush vegetation, the waterfall provides a peaceful place to rest beside the water and cool off after the morning hike. Depending on seasonal conditions, you may also enjoy a refreshing swim before continuing deeper into the forest.
In the afternoon, follow bamboo-lined paths through areas associated with the Akha hill tribe, where generations of local families have maintained their distinctive traditions and way of life. The trek continues through forested terrain before returning briefly to Yafu Village to freshen up.
Later, a short walk brings you to a mountain campsite overlooking the surrounding countryside. As the sun sets over the hills, enjoy a simple dinner traditionally prepared in bamboo and served in a relaxed outdoor setting. Far from towns and city lights, the campsite offers a peaceful environment to appreciate the natural beauty of the Chiang Rai highlands before spending the night in your tent.
