Laos is often likened to an innocent girl, possessing the beauty of jade-colored blue eyes and the allure of forest waterfalls. For an ideal ancient "Million Elephants" country experience, a recommended itinerary is a 3 days 2 nights visit to Luang Prabang.
This itinerary allows you to explore captivating sites like Wat Xieng Thong, Kuang Si Waterfall, Pak Ou Cave, Elephant Camp, and Mount Phousi…
Start your day early to participate in the unique daily alms giving ritual to saffron-clad monks. This traditional procession is exclusive to Laos, making it a special experience. Afterward, explore fresh local markets before returning to the hotel for breakfast.
In the morning, visit Vat Xiengthong, the famous temple often photographed. It is located at the tip of a peninsula near the confluence of the Mekong and Khan rivers. Next, head to the former Royal Palace, now transformed into the National Museum. Make a stop at Wat Mai, renowned for its beautiful golden bas-relief. This temple houses the Prabang, a sacred Buddha image, which is publicly displayed during Pimai, the Lao New Year.
In the afternoon, take a scenic drive through green rice paddies and farms. Upon arriving at the Kuang Si waterfalls, embark on a short walk along the trail to visit the bear rescue center. Enjoy the breathtaking views and the surrounding orchids within the park. The cascading falls descend over multiple calcified tiers, forming cool turquoise pools. Afterward, return to Luang Prabang.

In the morning, transfer to the pier and board a traditional long-tail boat for a serene upstream cruise on the majestic Mekong River. Marvel at the stunning mountain scenery and observe the simple rural lifestyles along the riverbanks. Your destination is the Pak Ou caves, situated at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers. These caves house hundreds of sacred centuries-old Buddha images, attracting pilgrims during the Lao New Year festivities in mid-April. After exploring the caves, cruise back to Luang Prabang.
On the way back, make a stop at Ban Xangkhong, a weaving village.
Here, you can actively engage with the local experts and try your hand at the wooden looms, gaining practical experience in the art of weaving.
Finally, transfer to the airport for your international flight.
