After breakfast, begin your exploration of Hanoi’s cultural and historical heritage at Ba Dinh Square, where your guide introduces key events connected with Vietnam’s modern history and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex. Make a short stop at the nearby One Pillar Pagoda before continuing to Tran Quoc Pagoda beside West Lake and the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, which provides an introduction to the country’s diverse ethnic communities. Have lunch at a local restaurant before heading back to central Hanoi.
In the afternoon, visit Hoa Lo Prison and continue to the Train Street area, subject to local access conditions. From there, head toward Long Bien Bridge before exploring the Hanoi Old Quarter on foot, passing Dong Xuan Market and the traditional streets of Hang Ma, Lan Ong and Hang Buom.

After breakfast, depart Hanoi at around 08:30 and travel northwest toward Nghia Lo, passing through the rural landscapes of Thanh Son and Thu Cuc. Along the way, make a brief stop in a tea-growing area before continuing to Thu Cuc for lunch at a local restaurant.
Arrive in Nghia Lo during the afternoon and settle into a local Thai family homestay, with some time to rest before beginning an approximately two-hour bicycle ride through nearby Black Thai and White Thai villages.
Cycle at a relaxed pace along quiet village paths surrounded by rice fields and cornfields, stopping along the way to learn about local farming, traditional weaving and everyday community life. Return to the homestay in the late afternoon and enjoy dinner with your hosts.

After breakfast, visit Muong Lo Market, where local residents and ethnic communities gather to trade fresh produce, spices, fruit, textiles and handmade goods. Continue toward Tu Le through mountain valleys and rural communities, then enjoy an approximately one-hour guided walk through the surrounding rice fields and villages before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, travel across Khau Pha Pass, with scenic stops made when weather and visibility allow. Continue into La Pan Tan, where sweeping rice terraces cover the surrounding hillsides and farming remains closely connected with local Hmong life. Visit Mam Xoi Hill, one of the area’s distinctive rice-terrace viewpoints, with scenery naturally varying according to season, weather, visibility and local access.
By late afternoon, continue to Mu Cang Chai and settle into a traditional local homestay. If timing and local conditions allow, take a guided walk through Om Khom Village, a Black Thai community set at the foot of the surrounding hills, before returning to the homestay for dinner.

Continue to Tan Uyen Tea Hill for a short walk and photo stop among the rolling tea-growing scenery before proceeding to Lai Chau City for lunch.
In the early afternoon, transfer to the edge of the Lai Chau basin and begin an approximately two-hour guided countryside hike. Follow rural paths along the foothills and rice-growing areas, passing Hong Thu Hmong Village and Gia Khau Dao Village while observing local farming landscapes and everyday village life.
Rejoin the vehicle at the end of the walk and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for your own ways.

After breakfast, leave Lai Chau and drive into the Tam Duong countryside, where you begin an approximately three-hour guided trek through tea plantations, rice fields, cornfields and small rural settlements. Along the way, learn about the farming practices and everyday lives of the ethnic communities living in this part of Lai Chau.
Continue toward Ban Hon, an area associated with the Lu ethnic community, for an introduction to local village life, traditional clothing and cultural practices. After completing the trek, meet your vehicle and continue toward Sapa via O Quy Ho Pass, crossing the Hoang Lien Son mountain range.
When weather and visibility allow, make a scenic stop near Heaven’s Gate before continuing to Sapa. Arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon and settle in for the evening. The remainder of the evening is free for your own arrangements.

In the late afternoon, take a short guided walk through the Ban Pho area, home to Hmong communities associated with mountain farming and traditional corn-based spirit production. Afterwards, continue to a Tay family homestay, settle into the traditional stilt house and enjoy dinner with your hosts.

After breakfast, visit a weekly ethnic market in the Bac Ha region, selected according to your confirmed departure date and the local market schedule. When the itinerary falls on a Sunday, Bac Ha Market is the preferred option, bringing together communities such as the Flower Hmong, Dao, Tay, Phu La and Nung, who gather to trade agricultural produce, food, textiles, household goods and livestock while also meeting friends and relatives.
After exploring the market with your guide, enjoy lunch in the Bac Ha area. In the early afternoon, continue to the Ngai Phu Cho area, subject to the confirmed operating route, and begin an approximately two-hour guided walk through a Phu La community and the surrounding valley. Follow quiet rural paths through cultivated fields and terraced landscapes while learning about farming practices and everyday village life.
Return to Bac Ha in the late afternoon, with the remainder of the day free for your own arrangements. The exact market visited and afternoon timing may be adjusted according to the weekly market schedule and local operating conditions.
Overnight in Bac Ha
After breakfast, visit Hoang A Tuong Palace in Bac Ha, where your guide introduces the history and architecture of this historic residence. Leaving the Bac Ha highlands behind, continue south toward Thac Ba Lake through changing mountain and rural landscapes, with lunch and dinner included during the journey.
Continue through Luc Yen and make a short visit to a local stone or marble workshop to observe carving techniques practiced by local artisans. Afterwards, follow the scenic road toward Thac Ba Lake, passing palm-covered hills, rural settlements and increasingly peaceful lakeside landscapes.
By late afternoon, arrive in a White Trouser Dao community near Thac Ba Lake and settle into a traditional stilt-house homestay. Spend the remainder of the day enjoying the quiet village surroundings and gaining an introduction to local Dao life.

After breakfast at the homestay, begin the morning with a gentle walk through the surrounding White Trouser Dao village and rice fields toward the shores of Thac Ba Lake. Board a local boat and cruise across the peaceful lake, passing forested hills, small islands and rural landscapes while your guide introduces the reservoir and the communities living around its shores.
During the boat trip, there may be an opportunity to swim in Thac Ba Lake when weather, water and local safety conditions allow. Afterwards, return to the homestay and enjoy lunch before collecting your luggage and departing for Hanoi.
Arrive in Hanoi in the late afternoon and check in at your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax or explore the Old Quarter independently.

After breakfast, depart Hanoi at around 08:00 and travel to Halong Bay. Arrive at Tuan Chau Port around midday and board your overnight cruise. Following a welcome drink, cruise briefing and safety introduction, settle into your cabin and enjoy lunch on board as the cruise begins sailing through Halong Bay’s dramatic limestone scenery.
In the afternoon, visit Sung Sot Cave – Surprise Cave and explore its spacious limestone chambers along a series of stone steps and walking paths. Continue to Titov Island, where you may climb toward the viewpoint for panoramic views across Halong Bay or spend time relaxing on the beach and swimming when weather and local conditions allow.
Return to the cruise in the late afternoon and enjoy time on deck as the boat moves toward its overnight anchorage. Depending on the cruise program, you may join a cooking or fruit-and-vegetable carving activity before dinner. The evening is free for onboard activities such as board games, squid fishing or optional services offered by the cruise.
Overnight aboard a cruise in Halong Bay
Wake early if you wish to enjoy the peaceful morning scenery of Halong Bay, with tea, coffee and light breakfast items served according to the cruise schedule. An optional Tai Chi session may also be available on the sundeck before the morning excursion.
Continue to Luon Cave, where you can explore the sheltered limestone setting by either kayak or traditional bamboo boat, depending on your preference and the cruise’s operating arrangements. Paddle or ride beneath the low limestone passage and enter a peaceful lagoon surrounded by karst cliffs before returning to the cruise.
After the excursion, freshen up, complete check-out procedures and enjoy brunch on board as the boat cruises back toward Tuan Chau Port. Disembark and meet your driver for the transfer to Hanoi Airport according to your confirmed flight schedule, marking the end of your Northern Vietnam journey.

The tour begins in Hanoi, where you are met on arrival and transferred to a hotel in central Hanoi. It then travels through Northwest and Northern Vietnam before concluding after the Halong Bay cruise.
